Norfolk Saffron at Burnham Norton receives highest rating for its 2020 crop

Norfolk Saffron, based at Burnham Norton, is celebrating news that its 2020 crop has maintained its top quality rating.
Business founder Dr Sally Francis, said: Weâve just had news from the laboratory in France that our 2020 saffron crop has again attained ISO 3632 Category I, the top grade. This yearâs colouring strength rating was within a whisker of last yearâs, and is 277.2. This is a measurement of the saffronâs power. Putting the result into perspective, Category III saffron has a colouring strength of 150-plus, Category II 170-plus, and Category I is 200-plus.
