Spirit of the season: Holiday wishing tree decorating unites a Worcester neighborhood
WORCESTER It started with a simple bow. Then came some strings of lights. Then came the neighborhood.
“The neighborhood’s just been adding ornaments and it’s been the holiday wishing tree for the city of Worcester,” Burncoat neighborhood resident Brian Underwood said of the ornament-laden Canaan fir standing in the triangle between East Mountain and Burncoat streets.
“Just having this one holiday wishing tree for people to go and place an ornament and make a wish is the key; it means something,” Underwood continued. “It means something for people to go, and do, and bring the family to, and take a picture.”
