Paul was a massive supporter of Queensland Aussie rules football – with his service to the game spanning almost two decades.
His business Allied Pickfords held the long-term naming rights of the AFL Darling Downs and AFL Mackay senior men’s competitions.
He had stepped up as the president of Burleigh in 2005 at a time when the club was experiencing some major challenges. He stayed on as president and major sponsor for 14 years before handing over the reins at the end of 2018 to focus on his expanding business.
AFL Queensland head Trisha Squires said Paul’s contribution to Australian Rules Football in Queensland could not be understated.
