Bunhill Fields burial ground contains the relics of John Bunyan, William Blake and Daniel Defoe. Of import to statisticians is the tomb of the Rev Thomas Bayes, Presbyterian clergyman from Tunbridge Wells, who died 260 years ago. He is famous for his work on conditional probabilities, which concern the chance of one event occurring, given another event has happened.
From September, which is the start of the new academic year, Cass Business School will drop its legacy name and shift to being the ‘Bayes Business School’.
It was in July 2020, that the London business school committed to changing its name after it was found that some of Sir John Cass’s wealth was obtained through links to the slave trade.
The new name will formally launch on September 6. Until this point, the School will continue to be referred to as ‘The Business School (formerly Cass)’. Professor Paolo Volpin, the Dean, said: “In Bayes Business School, we believe we now have a name that reflects who we are and the values we hold. Even though Bayes lived a long time ago, his ideas and his name are very much connected to the future rather than the past.

Chennai, April 23 : Come September, the London-based business school Sir John Cass Business School or Cass Business School will be renamed as Bayes Business School, the school said in a statement.
Till such time the educational institution will be known as The Business School (formerly Cass) .
The name change is being effected after it was found that some of Sir John Cass s wealth was obtained through his links to the slave trade.
