The Minister of Health has awarded a medal to a renowned French medical expert who helped the University of Health Sciences develop its advanced medical research and study programmes.
The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) or Pasteur Institute of Cambodia has commemorated its 70-year presence in the Kingdom and its crucial role in the fight against infectious diseases such as polio, tuberculosis, dengue, HIV/AIDS, rabies and many others.
Prime Minister Hun Sen on May 23 expressed his appreciation for the rapid improvement of the Kingdom’s health sector, as he inaugurated the multi-purpose Techo Aphivadh building – a specialist unit – at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh. He said the new state-of-the art facility was the result of the government’s efforts and the participation of philanthropists.
A 17-member Chinese medical team was honoured with medals yesterday on completion of their selfless service at Preah Kossamak Hospital since last year.
The Ministry of Health and the Chinese embassy on May 15 awarded medals to 17 traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners at the Cambodia-China Friendship Preah Kossamak Hospital, in a ceremony lauded as a symbol of the cooperation between the two countries, which are building a “community of common destiny”.
