For more, visit oxford.gov.uk/planning A severely eroded bank of the River Cherwell along part of a footpath in the grounds of Magdalen College could be repaired. Plans to restore the footpath at Addison’s Walk have been submitted to city council planning chiefs. Under the plans, the college would restore the river bank, stressing that the end result would look natural. It would use interlocking trench sheets filled behind with earth to bolster the banks. A design statement from the college said: The trench sheets will sit below the mean water level and so will not be visible.

Plans for Frewin Quad and Castle Hill House student accommodation approved

Frewin Quad plans At Frewin Quad, a total of 30 new student bedrooms can now be built, in a three-storey block where there is currently a small courtyard area. The plans for the quad also include refurbishing existing accommodation at Frewin Hall, a grade-II listed building. The ground floor of the hall will become a communal area, and the building’s Norman vaulted basement below ground will be used as study space. Philip Parker, the bursar of Brasenose College, said the site was an ‘under-recognised gem’ and would be enhanced by the plans. A design drawing of Brasenose College’s plans for Frewin Quad.
