Reps demand rescue of pastor slated for Boko Haram execution Thursday
The House of Representatives has urged the Federal
Government to rescue Pastor Bulus Yikura, who has been in the custody of Boko
Haram for over two months and is billed for execution by the insurgents on Thursday.
The call by the House followed the unanimous adoption of a
motion of urgent public importance moved at the plenary on Tuesday by the
lawmaker representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency in Borno State,
Mr Ahmad Jaha.
Adopting the motion, the House resolved to “intimate the
Federal Government to do everything possible to secure the release of the

The House of Representatives on Tuesday expressed worry over the Thursday deadline given by Boko Haram insurgents to execute Pastor Bulus Yikura who has been in their custody.
The House called on the Federal Government to ensure that the pastor is rescued before the deadline expires.
The green chamber made the call following an urgent motion moved by the lawmaker representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza Federal Constituency in Borno State, Mr Ahmad Jaha.
Moving the motion, Jaha said, “The House is worried by the continuous closing of the one-week period given by the insurgents, which expires on Thursday, March 4, 2021.

The House of Representatives has called on the federal government to do everything possible to secure the release of Pastor Bullus Yikura from the captivity of Boko Haram terrorists.
The resolution of the House was sequel to the adoption of a motion of urgent national importance moved by Hon. Ahmed Jaha at the resumed plenary on Tuesday.
Presenting the motion, the lawmaker recalled that on December 24, 2020, Boko Haram insurgents attacked Pemi Village of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, with the village burnt to ashes, eight people killed, while two persons were abducted, including Yikura and various food and other items were destroyed and carted away from these villages during the attack.

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, urged the federal government to rescue Pastor Bulus Yikura kidnapped by Boko Haram last year before the expiration of the deadline given by the insurgents within which they threatened to eliminate him.
This came just as the House urged the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) to provide some relief materials to the victims of attacks by bandits in Amarawa village of IIlela Local Government Area of Sokoto State which resulted in the killing of 13 people.
