“It is indubitable that Bulatlat.com is not accessible to a significant portion of the public. Hence, contrary to the Honorable Court’s finding, there is clear suppression of Plaintiff’s constitutionally guaranteed freedom of the press and freedom of expression."
Independent news organization Bulatlat on Friday appealed to the Quezon City Court to reconsider its denial of a temporary restraining order against a memorandum ordering internet service providers to block access to its website.
The three-member Makabayan bloc filed House Resolution No. 49 calling on the human rights and public information panels to immediately conduct a probe on the blocking of the red-tagged websites, which include independent news outlets Bulatlat and Pinoy Weekly.
“That is under review and I think there will be some legal aspects there so I will not comment on that matter for the meanwhile,” Carlos told reporters in a press briefing on Friday.
