Family, city workers hope to raise awareness of disease that took Augusta woman’s life

AUGUSTA About three years ago, Kathy Sproul was diagnosed with a rare, terminal neurological disease progressive supranuclear palsy that has no cure and progressively takes away the patient’s abilities to function.
Augusta Parks & Rec Offering A 4-Week Long PreK & Kinder PE Camp
Looking for something to help your little ones stay active this winter?
According to the Augusta Parks and Recreation Facebook page, they will be offering a 4-week PE Camp for Augusta children who are in PRE K or Kindergarten. Each week will offer kids an opportunity to try out different sports and programs offered through Augusta Parks and Rec.
The PE Camp will take place at the Buker Community Center on Saturday mornings from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm. It all kicks off Starting Saturday, February 6th and will wrap up on Saturday, February 27th. There is a $35 registration fee, and that can be paid HERE.
Augusta Parks and Recreation Adds A Second Ice Rink
Winter has officially arrived, and that means families are looking for any outdoor fun to be had. Because of the ongoing pandemic, they are especially looking for social distanced fun. Anything to help our kids burn off that extra energy that they have a harder time exerting during the colder months.
Last week, Augusta Parks and Recreation announced that the Parks and Rec crew were building a public ice rink at Mill Park, and if all goes well with below freezing temps, it should be open soon. But, that s not the only Ice Rink coming to Augusta courtesy of Augusta parks and rec.
This winter, more than ever, people are craving outdoor activities. People want to get out of their homes and ice skating is a great option this time of year.
Towns and cities all across the state are putting in the work to provide ice rink access to residents.
Augusta Parks and Recreation have one at Mill Park.

Bath Goddards Pond is the go-to for skating fun. Bath Parks and Recreation are keeping an eye on the ice and roping off areas deemed unsafe.
Bath is also home to the Legion Field Ice Rink on Congress Ave. This rink is perfect for little ones learning how to skate!
