bill is in trouble? no. i feel confident that we re going to get this done. and we re continuing to work across the aisle to do this bipartisan where we can. and also to make sure that where we can t attract republican support, we nevertheless advance the necessary measures. this is an opportunity to upgrade our quality of life as a people, building out transit and transportation infrastructure, transitioning from the combustion of fossil fuels to clean and renewable energy sources, laying the foundations for american economic strength and competitiveness for decades and decades to come. it is a rare moment in the united states congress and a moment that i believe we ll meet. and in that bill it s calling for $579 billion to build roads, bridges, and public transit among other things. but democrats as a whole are talking about pouring $1 trillion into the economy with this legislation. all of this at a time when inflation is at a 13-year high. is this the right way to spend money?
