alex, tell us where we are today after the testimony. i understand there was a bug witness put on by the defense. yeah. laura: tell us what happened. the bug doctor. actually he had hopes of being the best witness the defense had called to date. you know, the prosecution put on a really strong circumstantial evidence case. defense had their work cut out for them. they started picking away at it put him on and he seemed to be eating at the prosecution s end molg expert. the bug expert. everything was going fine until the prosecutor got up and did his cross-examination and did what i think was the best cross-examination i have seen the whole trial. step-by-step he picked apart the opinions of the defense s expert. trying to rehabilitate him. he left the jury with impression that this man would say anything for the defense. he couldn t support his opinions and he basically undermined the basis for his opinions and it was a winner day for the prosecution. laura: not to be too graph
it doesn t make any sense. but to me, it says an inexperienced defense lawyer thinking, i have to refute absolutely everything the prosecution said, even though it contradicts my case. gregg: the air sample and the smell of the dead body in the trunk was so powerful from so many different people, including the accused mother, why dispute the thing? well, this case is all about reasonable doubt. so i understand the way the defense opened this case. but an opening statement is still evidence of nothing. it s still all about attacking the prosecution s witnesses, especially that bug expert. we don t know how they re going to connect the dots at the end. we don t know obviously they re probably stuck to this accidental drowning theory, but you re not always stuck to what you open wait a second. no, wait a second. gregg: you make outrageous claims, that point, lise, the only person that can prove the accidental drowning and the alleged sex abuse is the defendant.
