The case is Price v. Barr (decided Jan. 22), a case about a man who was criminally cited for filming in a federal park.
Facts
Gordon Price is a music store owner and part-time independent filmmaker; he lives and works in Yorktown, VA. Last year, Price and a colleague released an independent feature film about a York County stretch of road that has long been the subject of rumors of hauntings and the location of unsolved murders.
The film is entitled “Crawford Road.” It premiered at the Boathouse Live Restaurant in Newport News, VA. About 250 people attended the premiere, which received press coverage. Later, it was presented at other venues in Hampton and Yorktown, VA. The film also received some local TV news attention.

Her career highlights include numerous successful trial verdicts, settlement awards and procedural dismissals.
Roff co-authored “Minnesota Commercial General Liability Insurance Policy: Annotated,” cited as authority by the Minnesota Court of Appeals in
Grinnell Mutual Insurance Co. v. Ripley, No. A09-179 (Minn. Ct. App., Dec. 29, 2009). She is also the primary author of the Post Loss Duties of an Insured chapter of the Minnesota Continuing Legal Education Deskbook.
Joseph J. Thomas looked frightened.
He was dying from Covid-19, without his family around him. Each of his five children were saying their goodbyes remotely, on Thanksgiving day.
They were still reeling from their mother s death from Covid-19 two weeks before.
Both parents had contracted the virus in different nursing homes. Marie S. Thomas, 94, was in Autumn View Health Care Facility in Hamburg with advanced Alzheimer s disease. The disease had progressed to the point where she had not been able to talk with her children since the spring.
But Jay Thomas, as he was known, a retired lawyer living at Canterbury Woods in Amherst, was alert until the end.
