ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) New York State Monday officially extended the curfew for restaurants and bars to midnight, and it comes just after a weekend ruling dismissed an ongoing legal challenge to get rid of the curfew altogether.
State Supreme Court Judge Timothy Walker
dismissed the challenge on Saturday, but Corey Hogan, the attorney representing more than 90 restaurants and bars who sued the state over the curfew says, the fight is not over. We re using all kinds of means to keep people protected in terms of single-use silverware, the masking, the cleaning of everything, Hogan said. It s listed about 15 preventative measures these restaurants take to keep it safe, I ve yet to find anyone who traced a viral transmission back to a restaurant.
Darren McGee- Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo
Gov. Andrew Cuomo appeared in Buffalo Friday, during which he signed legislation requiring internet providers offer $15-per-month online service to qualified low-income households.
Cuomo appeared at the Northland Workforce Training Center in Buffalo, where he signed the legislation.
He explained that the COVID pandemic highlighted the many inequalities faced by many in communities of color, including internet access. Such access, he and bill supporters say, is no longer a luxury but a necessity.
“Now you can apply for a new job, you can apply for new training and for new skills, so much information on the internet. Yes, but you have to be able to get there and you need access to broadband, Cuomo said. You can connect with loved one. You can access government services, you can get a driver s license, you can get a vaccination appointment. All done faster and easier than ever before, if you have broadband.”

According to the state, 43% of people nationwide earning less than $30,000 are not connected to the internet at home, and 26% of those making $30,000 to $50,000 remain unconnected at home.
