Argentine domestic apple sales fell in January by 22% year-on-year
According to a recent report by the National Agricultural Food Health and Quality Service, in January, Argentine apple sales to the domestic market decreased by 22% over the previous year and 3% compared to the same month of the 2017-2020 period, totaling 14,901 tons.
In the first month of 2021, the domestic market concentrated 75% of all apple sales; exports accounted for 13%, and the remaining 12% was destined for the industry.
According to different market operators, the low levels of stock stored in the cold rooms had an impact on the final supply of this product in January. “Sales are fluid, but this is due to the lack of merchandise. Prices remain high pending a greater supply. A box of quality apples was sold in January for over 4,500 pesos.
