measure. there has been serious arm-twisting here on capitol hill with g.o.p. leaders in the house. they re trying to get republican members lined up behind this american health care act. they still don t have the votes and it does seem like they re trying to add to their tally one member at a time. a conservative congressman says he s a yes, but under duress. since there are not more votes today, the vote will be on this short-term budget measure which may get some democratic support because it doesn t have any money for the wall, which conservatives but conservatives don t think they can distract them much longer. president trump is the master of leverage. right now, the democrats have done a couple of theatric moves on the hill as usual with the bright shiny objects, with a billion dollars for the wall.
it s at a time where we should be saying generosity and curiosity of how we could build a better community and we see animosity from both sides. right. it is true. if you have the democrats just saying flat out that it s not our president he is not legitimate ãyou have to question what donald trump would do. he can and will in the future. he s picking away at obama care days before he leaves office. house republicans passed a budget measure which allows them to start the law. he passes it thursday night. kristin fisher is live in washington with those details. hi, kristin.
i think you re on an idea with the idea of republican unease. if you want a clue to some of that pay attention to the house vote today on the budget measure that includes starting this repeal president for the president s health care law and see how many republicans, moderates, conservatives like steve was talking about from the freedom caucus who break from the trump/ryan agenda today on this vote. a lot of republicans are the hill, when i was there yesterday and today saying, look, we don t really have a replacement for the health care law but a lot of deficits coming up on the horizon. we got to maybe think about these things before we start going full bore with all of these different pieces legislation. trump has had multiple bankruptcy. one thing donald trump does not seem to worry about is how do you pay for things. he s in a very unique club there because george w. bush and barack obama are right there with him. bush comes in with a 5.5
now in motion for republicans to move forward on this. the senate taking a very simple but very important procedural step by improving the budget measure that will become the vehicle for the dismantling of obamacare. the session lasted into the wee hours of the morning only wrapping up a hand full of hours ago with many speeches by democrats protesting this move by the republicans. up to 30 million americans will lose their health care with many thousands dying as a result. 95% of children in america now have affordable comprehensive health insurance. why would we want to move backwards. imagine becoming pregnant and having your insurer drop your coverage because you re no longer economic. and this will likely be taken up by the house on friday which will pave the way for this to continue moving forward but very notably there s still no replace plan in place. no one plan in plats.
