and the senate and there is just can widespread frustration that day after day they find themselves being forced to respond to the late he is controversy overs controversy out of the white house. they say we just want a drama free week. they were hoping to get that out of trump s trip. and i think that they face wider challenges when it comes to actually passing for example a bill too repeal and replace obamacare. i think that they will have a lot of difficulty coming to a budget compromise. but certainly are i think that the sense is that this proves to be a distraction and certainly obstructs their ability to move forward. it s remarkable that republicans control all three branches of government and have not passed a major bill. when you talk to house republican leaders, they will say they don t have a choice but to try to get something passed because the reality is in mueller s investigation, if past is any precedent, it will probably last 12 to 18 months
why would the american people want a shutdown when you accomplish something that a lot of american people would like to see more of. and that s a budget compromise where not everybody gets everything and they have to make some deals to keep the government running and fund projects that people care about. and i think he was mick mulvaney was sticking to his position that at the end of the day, if they don t feel like they are getting what they want and i think what they want perhaps more than anything is border wall funding, that they re prepared to shut down the government for it at some point in time but that s likely to come, wolf. nia, the fact is, all appropriations has to be passed by 60. not 61. to fund a border wall, you re going to need that. it s not clear that republicans will either. you have border state
you. and if you re going to accept pay, you ought to show up for work. what do you think of what marco rubio said? the way he kind of won that battle. but what do you think of his defense of it? i guess i look at it just from my perspective. each senator has to express whether or not they think it s important that they show up. for in, it s important. i can only tell you how i feel. i try to represent the people of kentucky by showing up and making sure i have a good voting record. all right. senator, let s talk about this budget deal. as you were mentioning. that was one thing you spoke about quite a bit last night. this budget compromise. you ve called it i believe you ve called it a steaming pile of legislation and you said you will filibuster it. we don t want to get into the procedural mess. but in layman s terms, mitch mcconnell, he s already started pushing the process forward. so you rant really stop it with
little breaking news, that budget compromise that speaker boehner and mitch mcconnell struck with president obama and the white house has officially passed the house, 266 votes. we know, we re pretty sure it was a majority of democrats there. we ll get more word on that as we get that data in. but it s passed the house, which means it will pass the senate and it s a nice segue for our next segment. this republican debate is going to be about front and center issues like the economy and the budget. it s billed as a your money, your vote. and it s supposed to hit every presidential candidate and their tax plans and their economic plans, and what they re going to say. i think we ll see more detail than we ever had. so we ll see tonight after the candidates take the stage, after
