Pritzker’s annual State of the State/Budget Address Wednesday, he delivered a balanced budget proposal that does not include increases in income taxes. “I started with the premise that hardworking families should not have to pay more when they’re stretched the most thin,” said Pritzker. “I want middle class Illinoisans to pay lower income taxes, not higher.” Instead, the focus will be on “strategically maximizing federal dollars and bending the cost curve of government through flat spending.” The proposed budget also closes nearly $1 billion in corporate tax loopholes, while strengthening safety net services for Illinoisans in need.
