Calgary Flames came up the QE2 for their rematch against the Edmonton Oilers chomping at the bit to put Friday night’s lacklustre showing in the rear view. In a much more spirited affair, the visitors came out hot, playing a physical brand of hockey that sent a couple of Oilers down the tunnel.

The Robinson’s Furniture 65-and-older tournament softball team recently traveled to Tampa, Fla., for the ISSA World Tournament of Champions Senior Softball Tournament and came home a winner.
The team comprises players in the Olde Tymers Softball League, a league for players 60 and older that holds its games in Dagsboro. The team won five of six games in the Tournament of Champions, going up against four other teams from the U.S. that had previously won major tournament championships.
With less than a handful of trips to Eastern Canada every year, it’d be tough to fault Canadiens, Leafs, and Senators fans if they hit up HockeyDB when they look at the current Calgary Flames roster.
As the Flames embark on a season that’ll see them play an unprecedented 27 times against those teams, here are six under-the-radar Calgary players that Eastern Canadian hockey fans should get to know. There’s a good chance they’ll have a significant impact on how things unfold in the North Division.
David Rittich
It’s funny to write that an all-star is unknown, but Rittich is exactly that. Coming into Flames camp, he’s penciled in as the clear No. 2 goaltender behind Jacob Markstrom. Last season, the 28-year-old was 10th in the league in wins (24), one more than Markstrom.
