MERTZON James Patrick “Pat” Harris, 63, of Mertzon went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 23, 2021. He was surrounded by his family as he peacefully passed, after bravely battling Progressive Muscular Atrophy.
Pat was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elaine Tunnell and Jim Harris. He spent the early part of his childhood in Midland until his family moved to Brownwood where he graduated high school in 1976. Pat went on to graduate from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Production. He cherished his time at Texas Tech, where he competed as a bareback bronc rider on the rodeo team, and where he also met the love of his life, Cindy Mitchell, at a Pike Fest popcorn booth.
