The League of Women Voters of Bucks County celebrated the People Powered Fair Maps National Day of Action on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Bucks County Administration Building in Doylestown. Pennsylvania State Representative Wendi Thomas, of the 178th District in Bucks County, was recognized and given a certificate for her leadership in redistricting reform in Pennsylvania, as the prime sponsor of House Bill 22, known along with its companion Senate Bill 222 as the Legislative and Congressional Redistricting Act (LACRA). LACRA would require fairer rules for redistricting and would allow for more transparency and public engagement in redistricting in Pennsylvania. The Hub is a new first-floor office in the Bucks County Administration Building in Doylestown offering a one-stop shop for human services provided by the county and related agencies.
A concept proposed by now Commissioner Chairwoman Diane Ellis-Marseglia for years before she assumed county leadership, the new center will have her daughter, Katey Marseglia, as the center s new resource navigator. Her salary will be $55,000. This is like a dream for me. I am so excited, said the commissioner chair, a former social worker. Rather than having to sign on to websites, a person who calls The Hub will speak to a human being.
