Mackay Whitsunday schools get $1.5m worth of upgrades

Premium Content Subscriber only Two Mackay-Whitsunday schools will benefit from almost $1.5m worth of new contracts, helping tradies also get back on the tools. In the next two months, local tradies will work on upgrades at Mackay schools, including a new hall roof at Mackay North State High School worth almost $1m and a $550,000 extension and refurbishment of Bucasia State School’s tuckshop. Education Minister Grace Grace said the contracts awarded in March and April were part of the Palaszczuk government’s multimillion-dollar budget action plan for the Mackay-Whitsunday region. Mackay MP Julieanne Gilbert welcomed the local investment in the region’s schools and local jobs.
