Subscriber only The new concept plans for the Mackay riverfront remind me of the buzz I used to enjoy back when I lived in Brisbane. I envisage a vibe like the Eat Street Markets or along the South Bank parklands, and how I imagine the Howard Street Wharves are now (they opened after I left that city). I love Mackay and the vibrancy in Wood Street gave me that reminder of my big city days. Having a spot along our gorgeous Pioneer River to hang out with friends at night or take a lunch break during the day is an exciting prospect.
Queensland Health made the announcement in an alert on Wednesday afternoon.
Mackay North receives sewage from the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Richmond, Shoal Point, Bucasia, Blacks Beach, Rural View, Eimeo and Dolphin Heads, while Cairns Marlin Coast receives sewage from the suburbs of Barron, Kamerunga, Macalister Range, Yorkeys Knob, Caravonica, Trinity Beach, Smithfield, Palm Cove, Trinity Park, Clifton Beach and Kewarra Beach.
Queensland chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said continued detections across the state were becoming more concerning.
âWe continue to urge anyone with any symptoms, no matter how mild to come forward and get tested,â Dr Young said.
âSymptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, fatigue, diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, and loss of taste or smell.

Handing back Australia Day awards I find the virtue signalling of prominent Australians such as Pater Kingston and Kerry O Brien highly hypocritical. They state the reason to hand back the Australia Day awards is in response to Margret Court s views and opinions on same-sex marriage and homosexuality. Further stating the intention of the country s highest honour is to foster community unity. So under the guise of unity they attack an individual who has differing views to their own on TV and radio. This seems to be the opposite of inclusive and unity. In fact it s exclusive, divisive and bullying.
