On May 11, 2021, Governors from the southern part of Nigeria met in Asaba, Delta State to proffer solutions to killings, kidnapping and other challenges bedevilling the nation.
The governors, under the aegis of the Southern Nigeria Governors’ Forum (SNGF), condemned open grazing of animals and movement of cattle from the northern part of the country to the south.
The governors also called for a national conference to determine national questions bothering on the nature of Nigeria’s federalism and federal character in national appointments, among other issues.
Earlier before Southern Governors’ decision banning open grazing of cattles, the Abia State House of Assembly had in 2018 passed the anti-grazing bill, which prohibits nomadic cattle rearing and grazing routes in the State.

Attacks on security formations in the South East continued yesterday as gunmen again attacked the Police headquaters in Anambra and a Police station in Abia.
Two Policemen and three other persons were killed when gunmen attacked the Zone 13 police headquarters at Ukpo, in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Similarly, hoodlums razed the Uzuakoli Police Division in Bende council area of Abia State.

The Northern Community of Umuchieze Cattle Market in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia, has refuted allegation of habouring bandits, kidnappers, armed robbers and herdsmen.
The group’s spokesperson, Mr Buba Kedemure who addressed newsmen at the market on Monday, said that they were deeply worried by the allegation.
He said that it was alleged that the said criminals were authorised by the group, to plan and attack their victims within and outside the state.
Kedemure said that the allegation was a calculated attempt by some disgruntled elements within and outside the cattle market to incite the host communities and the governnent against them.
