MEXICO CITY (AP) Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV (BSMX) on Wednesday reported first-quarter earnings of $161.2 million.
The Mexico City-based bank said it had earnings of 12 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 17 cents per share.
The Mexican bank posted revenue of $1.51 billion in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $1.04 billion, which beat Street forecasts.
Santander Mexico shares have climbed 9.5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $5.64, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
