The 30-share Sensex advanced 354.45 points, or 0.47 per cent, to close at 75,038.15, and the Nifty climbed 111 points, or 0.49 per cent to end at a new high of 22,753.8.
Mutual funds played a major role in the sustained rally in the market. Inflows into equity mutual fund schemes increased by 23 per cent to Rs 26,865.78 crore on a net basis in February.
“On the first day, 63 members participated in this optional segment. As many as 41 members traded in 10 scrips and placed a total of 329 orders which resulted into 90 trades,” the BSE said in a release.
