The couple Brynja Einarsdóttir and Örn Almarsson have created the grant fund STAFN, which will be held by the University of Iceland’s grant funds. The fund’s initial funding is ISK 50 million and it will support outstanding students in their studies of science, health sciences, engineering, and computer science, including artificial intelligence and bioinformatics.
The new pharmaceutical development company Axelyf ehf., founded by the couple Örn Almarsson and Brynja Einarsdóttir and entrepreneur John Lucas, has set up its headquarters in Lækjargata in Hafnarfjörður. The main focus of the company will be on developing a drug made from astaxanthin produced by Algalíf Iceland in Ásbrú.
