State Sen. Bryant Richardson’s second attempt this year to require doctors to offer an ultrasound or fetal heartbeat monitor to patients seeking an abortion appears to be on its way to a similar fate as his first attempt.
In March, he struck the first bill that would have implemented the ultrasound requirement after it was introduced in January. He introduced a replacement bill in April that would create civil and criminal penalties for doctors who fail to make the required offer of an ultrasound prior to terminating a pregnancy.
“A lot of women will decide to keep the child if they see the development of that child on an ultrasound screen,” Richardson said.

SEAFORD, Del. – In an effort to bring jobs, businesses and prosperity to the state of Delaware, the city of Seaford had an historical ground breaking ceremony for a new business park which officials say is going to make the town a great place to be. “These job opportunities that are going to come from this park, it’s an inspiration to us all,” says state Senator Bryant Richardson.
Governor John Carney and other city officials say the project has been in the works for the past three years. With the recent pandemic, the push for jobs and revenue couldn’t have come sooner. “The number one priority for us always is to make sure folks have jobs, people have jobs and everything else, and life gets a little bit easier during these difficult times,” says Governor Carney.

Those numbers could be reduced with new laws requiring a permit and training to buy a gun, according to Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings. A gun permit law is number one on her list of legislative priorities.
“There are too many guns on our streets and it’s too easy for criminals to get them,” Jennings said. “Owning a gun is a right and it is a responsibility. That’s why it’s time to join red and blue states alike in requiring a permit and training to purchase a gun.”
She said permit laws have been shown to reduce gun homicides by 40% and suicides by 15%, a claim backed by a Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research study of Connecticut’s permit law.

Six Delaware Republican senators refused this week to congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris for winning the 2020 election.
It was the latest sign that GOP lawmakers at the state Capitol may be less willing to compromise on crucial bills this year as they move away from moderate traditions to a polarized, partisan split.
Lawmakers on Thursday voted on two Democratic resolutions which essentially serve as a formal statement without any legal or material consequence to congratulate the state s former U.S. senator and his running mate on achieving the highest office in the country.
