Bryant Museum in Tuscaloosa is calling it a career after more than 30 years on the job. Ken Gaddy said it was just time to leave the position after so many years. Initially, Gaddy says he was asked to be on the committee to hire an assistant director when the museum opened back in 1988. Then he decided to apply for the position himself. The person originally chosen to be the director resigned while Gaddy’s two-week notice at his previous job was still in effect and Gaddy became the acting director as soon as he walked through the door.

Tuska, The Newest Addition To Bryant-Denny Stadium a Big Hit With Fans For A-Day

Apr 19, 2021 The football team was the big attraction inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday for the annual A-Day Game. But outside the stadium fans flocked to meet Tuska, a 7-ton bronze elephant statue that was relocated to the northeast end of the stadium on the corner of University Boulevard and Wallace Wade Avenue. The statue, sculpted by English artist Terry Mathews 20 years ago, was originally erected at the NorthRiver Yacht Club. Standing nearly 20-foot tall, Tuska was given to UA by the Westervelt Co., based in Tuscaloosa. It was moved to its new home earlier in the week, just in time for A-Day.
