SANTA MONICA- On Friday, July 2, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) announced that they have arrested a man for spray painting near Santa Monica Fire Station #7.
On Thursday, June 29, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Sergeant with the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) was patrolling the area near Beach Parking Lot 3 North and observed someone actively spray painting on a section of the privacy screen fencing that surrounds Santa Monica Fire Station #7. Upon further investigation, the Sergeant discovered a Glock-style black metal pellet gun under his vehicle’s driver’s seat, spray paint on the suspect’s fingers, and spray paint cans in his possession.

Retired judge outlines findings from Sitka Police Department investigation

Six months after former Sitka Police detective Mary Ferguson settled her half-million-dollar sexual harassment suit with the city, she’s delivered on her promise to conduct an outside investigation into the department. But even though the investigation was ordered in her settlement and was led by a retired judge, Ferguson is worried that it won’t bring about needed change in Sitka’s police culture.
The report was issued mid-January by Judge Eric Smith. Smith is a retired superior court judge from Palmer. After Mary Ferguson settled her harassment and discrimination suit with the Sitka Police Department last August, she hired Smith to conduct the investigation independently.
