SmartEquip Donates $250,000 to St Jude Children s Research Hospital

Regional Executive Director Timothy Bayly of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children s Research Hospital, accepted SmartEquip’s $250,000 donation from its CEO Fernando Piñera on April 30. SmartEquip Executive Chairman Bryan Rich and CEO Fernando Piñera have presented a $250,000 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital  to support its mission: Finding cures. Saving children. SmartEquip participates in a Workplace Giving program for the hospital that offers employees the opportunity to donate a portion of their salaries. SmartEquip then matches 50 cents to every dollar contributed. In addition to this program, there are various other fundraising activities and volunteer opportunities for employees to join with the other companies in the SmartEquip Network.

Prices settled lower after spirited trading earlier in the day that saw Brent prices loft to $69.81, just 19 cents shy of the $70 mark. WTI traded above $66 before falling back. The surge reflected positive pandemic news from the United States and Europe that lifted hopes of a strong summer travel season. The May 5 action capped two strong days of gains to open the week that featured ANS notching a closing price above $69 and the indexes hitting seven-week highs.

Insurance provider alleges no duty to defend in road rage collision

Price EAST ST. LOUIS An insurance provider claims it has no duty to defend a claim involving a road rage incident and an auto glass business in Highland.  Auto-Owners Insurance Company filed a complaint March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois against Michael Cook, Michael Schuster and Highland Auto Glass Inc. According to Auto-Owners Insurance s complaint, it is disputing a claim, which stems from a road rage accident that took place on Oct. 4, 2019. The plaintiff alleges Cook was a passenger in a Ford van driven by Schuster. The plaintiffs allege another driver, Devin Dahmer, rammed his car into the vehicle occupied by Cook and Shuster and caused them to suffer injuries.
