the family didn t get around to posting it until last week. we never got around to it. two boys, life is pretty crazy. reporter: when he is not chasing otters he is chasing other things? absolutely. yes, he is. he is very active. and he is very goofy. reporter: who is better at keeping up with ryan, mom or the otter? definitely the otter. reporter: for the otter, keeping up with the kids at the zoo, no trouble at all. david wright, abc news, los angeles. very, very cute. you wonder who is leading who there, the otter leading? i know. he has got to have a lot of fun there, running after these guys. this of course is at the san diego zoo, one of the largest in the world. it has over 4,000 animals and over 800 species there. it also has become very well known for a panda bear that was there, panda named xu lin. lots of camera people watch that panda. it s mesmerizing really.
reporter: the video shows what looks like a game of tag between two different species. the kid named ryan moyers and an otter named khalil. ryan runs, khalil follows. back and forth and back again they go. this thing quickly became a youtube sensation. were you surprised by that? absolutely. absolutely. i was floored when there was 1,000 views. i think it s over 1,5 million now. reporter: actually, 1.6 million hits and counting. even the folks at the san diego zoo noticed an uptick in interest in african spotted-neck otters. people come to this part in the zoo oh, this is the spot where the video was. reporter: otters are known for their playful personalities and this is just more proof. we can t get inside the otter s head and know what he is thinking. looking at the behavior looks like they re having a lot of fun together. reporter: turns out the video was shot a year and a half ago when ryan was 3. a complete stranger, a tourist from maine, captured the scene
