Newport Beach police arrest mud-covered La Habra man after pursuit ends in marsh [The Orange County Register]
Jan. 1 A La Habra man wanted on a felony warrant was arrested late Thursday, Dec. 31, after evading Newport Beach police following an attempted traffic stop.
The 38-year-old man was spotted by Newport Beach police driving near Dover Shores when he refused to pull over, Sgt. Bryan Greyson said.
Police pursued him to a location near the Newport Aquatic Center at 1 Whitecliffs. At that location, he ran from his car and tried to escape into the water.
“It appeared he was attempting to get into a boat, and we called Harbor Patrol,” said Greyson.
