(OLNEY/NEWTON) The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting for February this past Tuesday night at Lincoln Trail College near Robinson. The Board : approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the District and the IECC Education Association Faculty Union dealing with professional development : approved a revised procedure and several revised policies to reflect recent staff reorganizational changes : approved an affiliation agreement with the Carle Foundation in Olney for the District’s Associate Degree in Nursing Program and Radiography Program : approved the purchase of two 15 passenger vans from Eagleson Automotive in Olney for use at Lincoln Trail College : approved the Calendar Year Report for the District’s 403(b) Plan which is completely employee funded : gave notice of intent to renew the contracts of Chancellor Ryan Gower and for three College Pr

Last October, Governor JB Pritzker announced his intention to construct two community college-based manufacturing training academies in southern Illinois. “We’re investing directly in communities and in companies with programs that will allow businesses to grow, retain and attract new talent for higher-paying jobs of the future,” Pritzker said. “Through this program, we will bring investments where they are most needed, specifically for downstate communities, where these cutting-edge training opportunities have not been as widely available.” The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity says that 15 million dollars will be available to fund two centers.

The Wayne County Health Department will hold another drive-through vaccination clinic tomorrow, beginning at 9 a.m. People should go to the staging area at the Wayne County Fairgrounds by using the east entrance to the property on West Main Street. People will then be directed by staff when it is their turn to go to the health department for the vaccine. As with previous clinics in the county, there is no reservation list, and the clinic will be conducted in a first-come, first-serve manner.
