Arrest made in gunpoint carjacking near Rutgers University, cops say

A Middlesex County man has been charged with the gunpoint carjacking of a man early Thursday about six blocks from the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick.
Bryan Gomez, 30, of New Brunswick, was arrested about 2:40 p.m. Friday in the area of Sandford and Comstock Streets, city police said in a statement.
Gomez is charged with carjacking, terroristic threats and weapons offenses. He was held in the Middlesex County Jail pending a court hearing, New Brunswick police said.
Gomez also allegedly stole items from the man before driving off, police said. The stolen vehicle was found several hours later in another part of New Brunswick, investigators said.

NEW BRUNSWICK - A 30-year-old city man has been charged in connection with a carjacking that occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday on Hamilton Street near Harvey Street, said New Brunswick Police Department Deputy Director J.T. Miller Sunday.
At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, detectives arrested Bryan Gomez in the area of Sandford Street and Comstock Street, Miller said. Gomez has been charged with carjacking, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.
Investigating detectives said that at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Gomez approached a parked vehicle occupied by an adult male victim, displayed a handgun and demanded the occupant exit the vehicle. Gomez took personal property belonging to the victim and then fled in the victim’s vehicle.
