Shoppers have returned to the town centre in their droves after the November lockdown. Footfall data from inSwindon BID shows that levels were only down 23 per cent compared to the same time last year with the lowest day, Sunday, being only 5 per cent lower. Additional data also showed footfall was up 32 per cent compared with the week of June 15 - when the first national lockdown ended. Dale Heenan, Swindon Borough Council s cabinet member for the town centre, believes this is a good sign for the recovering high street as shoppers come out for Christmas. He said: Swindon shops are bouncing back even better than the response from the first lockdown.
