According to reports, Kodak Black was among those pardoned by Donald Trump on his last day in office. The Florida rapper will soon be freed after serving a year in jail for falsifying information on federal forms to purchase firearms from a Miami gun shop on two different occasions.
While the hip-hop world is rejoicing at Kodak getting to come home, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bruce O. Brown wrote in his motion, “(Kodak Black) has not presented ‘extraordinary and compelling reasons’ supporting his request for release.”
Kodak Black is in the middle of a 46-month prison sentence following a federal weapons charge and, according to a recent string of tweets, struggling with his mental health.
On Sunday night (January 10), the incarcerated rapper admitted he was feeling low, tweeting, “Lonely. Sad. Depressed. Pray for Sanity.” He added, “Lord Restore My Heart. Take What’s Broken And Make Whole Again.”

Kodak presumably experienced a glimmer of hope last week when it was reported he and Lil Wayne were on Donald Trump’s list of potential pardons. But following the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, Democrats are moving to impeach the outgoing president for a second time, meaning it’s unlikely that will happen.

Kodak Black is letting his fans know that he is really struggling to try to serve out his federal prison sentence.
Black indicated to his 3.4 million Twitter followers that being locked up and isolated is having a very detrimental impact on his emotional state, as well as his sanity.

The 23-year-old Kodak, whose legal name is Bill K. Kapri, is serving nearly four years in prison for falsifying documents in order to purchase a firearm as a convicted felon.

Black pleaded guilty in August 2019 to making a false statement to obtain a firearm. He was sentenced to 46 months, which is the minimum of the suggested sentence according to federal sentencing guidelines. Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, is currently incarcerated in USP Thomson Illinois and is slated for release in November 2022.
