(Sixth Judicial Circuit) PINELLAS COUNTY, FL On Thursday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Bruce L. Bartlett as state attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, replacing the late Bernie McCabe. McCabe, 73, died Jan. 1 after serving as the chief prosecutor for the Sixth Judicial Court for 28 years. The Sixth Judicial Court covers both Pinellas and Pasco counties. Following McCabe s death, Pinellas-Pasco Chief Judge Anthony Rondolino appointed McCabe s longtime chief assistant county attorney, Bruce Bartlett, to serve as acting state attorney until the governor could appoint an interim state attorney. DeSantis has now chosen to keep Bartlett in the office.

PETERSBURG, Fla. - Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe died Friday night at age 73. McCabe has been the state attorney for Pasco and Pinellas Counties since 1992. Pasco County Commissioner Mike More said, I’m saddened about the passing of our longtime State Attorney, Bernie McCabe. He was a dedicated public servant that cared deeply about our community. I have had the honor of serving on the Pasco County Public Safety Coordinating Council with him. I always appreciated the thoughtful input he would provide at our meetings. My condolences and prayers to his family.
