A Texas church network has announced that it is canceling a childrenâs camp event after around 80 participants of an earlier youth camp event tested positive for COVID-19.
South Texas District Church of the Nazarene, which is made up of around 100 congregations, had originally scheduled its Kidâs Camp for July 19-23.
However, the church group posted a statement on its Facebook page announcing the cancellation. It cited âover 80 COVID cases that can be traced directly to our STX Youth Camp held last week, July 5-9.â
âThat number has grown daily for six consecutive days. That number includes several who were vaccinated and still became ill with the COVID virus,â explained STDC.

Pastor Bruce Wesley of the multi-campus Clear Creek Community Church in Texas, which recently made headlines as some 125 youth and adults got infected with what officials suspect is the COVID-19 Delta variant after attending a church-sponsored student ministry camp, publicly prayed for Godâs âmercyâ as his church was forced to shutter for a second week.
âLord, we didnât want to be in the news, at least not for this, maybe for serving or some extreme generosity, but not this, Wesley prayed in an online message delivered to his congregants.
