Those whoâve never served in the military may have gotten a small dose this year of what itâs like for servicemen and women who are deployed.
âMaybe you feel isolated from your loved ones so that you can feel safe again in the future,â state Rep. Tim Ackert, R-Coventry, said during a Wreaths Across America ceremony on Dec. 19 at Patriots Park with a small number of onlookers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
âWe will all be together soon, but now I want you to think about our service members and I also want you to think about their families,â Ackert continued. âOur veterans have missed many holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and many special occasions. They were standing guard, they were high above in our skies. Theyâre on the seas and well below sea level. Our isolation due to the pandemic will soon be over but our military servicemen and women will continue to sacrifice for us.â
