RAPID CITY, S.D. The Western Art Show at the Black Hills Stock Show showcased talented artists from around the region.
The show is located in the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center theater lobby and is open all day to visitors. Art work ranged from images of the plains, mountains, and native artwork, but there was at least one commonality among all the artists they focused on midwestern aesthetics.
Business was also great, as the Stock Show brings huge crowds that have an opportunity to discover new and favorite artists.
“Fortunately, I have a gallery in Sundance, and people have been really good about stopping by. A lot of the artists here and around really rely on shows,” said Bruce Speidel, owner of Bruce Speidel Gallery in Sundance, Wyoming. “And for most of the artists that I’ve talked to around, major percentage, 90% of the shows have been cancelled. So, it’s a big blessing for them to be able to do a show.”
