Louisiana Tech sees 364 graduate in Winter Commencement Louisiana Tech University welcomed 364 new graduates into the Tech Alumni Family in two separate ceremonies held today (Saturday, March 6) in the Thomas Assembly Center. This is the 335th commencement exercise held at Tech. After nearly 60 years away from Louisiana Tech University, Joe Bates returns to receive his diploma at age 79.  Among the graduates were five recipients of the 4.0 medal and Dr. Joe Bates, a physician from Tyler, Texas, who first set foot on the Louisiana Tech campus in 1959. After earning 92 hours and a 4.0 GPA, Bates was accepted directly into LSU’s School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1961, where he received his medical degree as an honor graduate of the Class of 1965. Bates received his bachelor’s degree in Biology today.

Singleton, Hinckley to speak at pair of Winter 21 commencement ceremonies

Longtime Louisiana Tech supporters and graduates Bruce Singleton and Justin Hinckley will each offer a keynote address at one of the University’s two Winter 2021 commencement ceremonies Saturday, March 6 in Thomas Assembly Center. Singleton will be the keynote speaker at the College of Business and the College of Liberal Arts ceremony at 9 a.m. Hinckley will offer the keynote address at the College of Applied and Natural Sciences, College of Education, and College of Engineering and Science ceremony at noon. Commencement has been divided into two ceremonies in order to maintain appropriate physical distancing within the TAC. Singleton, Senior Vice President, Network Development Strategy at Multiplan, Inc. in Dallas, has 30 years’ experience in the operational, financial, and mergers and acquisitions activities in the healthcare industry.
