He is not the worldâs strongest climber, fastest alpinist or most daring paddler, but Bruce Kirkby has built a career on creating adventure stories.
He is one in a long line of adventurers who trace back to Ernest Shackleton and who are notable for their sheer ambition and the creativity of the objectives they doggedly pursue.
Kirkby has paddled the north coast of Borneo in a folding sea kayak, descended the Blue Nile Gorge on foot and crossed the Arabian Desert on camelback. Although each expedition comes with its own challenges, Kirkby says the hardest part is figuring out how to tell the story.
