Home stills are illegal, and frankly, they can be really dangerous considering you re messing with highly flammable vaporized alcohol. So really, don’t try this at home. Luckily, if you’ve got an interest in the process, the distilling wizzes at Nashville Craft Distillery are willing to share some of their experience as part of a two-day instructional workshop where you can really get your hands on some professional equipment. The NCD team had been conducting some classes about the science and the history of distilling before COVID, and after a pause, they’ve returned with a series of workshops limited to just six participants to allow for social distancing and more interaction with the distil

Nashville Craft Distillery relaunches workshops From news reports Nashville Craft Distillery will relaunch its two-day hands-on distilling workshops on May 4 at the distillery, 514 Hagan St. in Nashville. The workshops will be led by founder and president Bruce Boeko along with distiller Rachael Sykes. These sessions, conducted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, will cover topics including the science of fermentation and distillation; legal requirements (standards of identity) for whiskey, gin and other spirits; operation and maintenance of the mechanical systems used in distilling; infusions, barrel aging, and other post-distillation methods; distillery business strategies, whiskey economics; hands-on participation in mashing grain, fermentation, first and second distillation for whiskey, and botanical distillation of gin.
