New documentary points lens at The Villages

Lance Oppenheim’s Some Kind of Heaven, a new documentary film exploring the inner life of The Villages, follows four residents trying to reach for utopia with varying degrees of success.
“It isn’t just an exploration of unhappy people,” Oppenheim said during a recent interview. “It’s real people going through real problems in a sort of hyper-real, or unreal place.”
The film will be screened three times this week at the Marion Theatre in downtown Ocala: at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 28, 8 p.m. Jan. 30 and 4:30 p.m. Jan. 31.
Oppenheim, who is from Fort Lauderdale, heard about The Villages in the occasional local media dispatch while he was growing up.
