shelter that has a lot of migrants right now that is housing it. we have footage, i believe we can show you that is outside the scene. some of the scenes are disturbing to some because it s a vehicle accident but what s unique about this, rich, makes reporting nationally, when we talk to many of the witnesses, many migrants themselves, one woman named rosie who is venezuela migrant with tears running down her eyes as she recounted what happened. she was among the group. she said there were 20 to 30 migrants mostly venezuelans standing outside of that bus stop this morning when she said she saw the vehicle veer off of the busy highway we are standing onto the highway, plow into the group of her fellow venezuelan migrants causing horrific injuries. we are here now with brownsville pd investigator martin sandoval. you have been very busy, what
it was happening here just in front of a shelter that largely houses of migrants. that is why there s so much concern here. let me step out the way light looked on the river a few miles of actual border. at this busy intersection on the left side of your screen is a building that houses about 100 200 migrants. obviously it is at capacity right now the surge of migrants coming to brownsville we have been showing you all week long. there are 8:30 a.m. this morning a vehicle drove up on the curb on the other side of the street there is a bus stop. a lot of migrants were gathered out there migrants regularly take the laln head to the other places in the country where they re going 200 multiple witnesses that saw him or migrants told us there were migrants among the deceased. seven have been confirmed dead. there are multiple injured were waiting to fight off the local brownsville pd we spoke about half hour go to the
great concern to both border patrol officials who are seeing the massive increase as well as local officials. now just to recap a little bit shortly around 8:30 this morning longal time here outside of a homeless shelter being overwhelmingly occupied by migrants at a bus stop here out front a car, a single car, a gray vehicle drove up on the curve in front of a bus stop and plowed into a group of individuals. the brownsville pd confirming that there are migrants among and we don t know exactly how many there are but clearly there are migrants among them and that is a concern because there have been a large number of migrants walking around this area. now where we are just orient people, we are about 4, 5 miles from the border where you have seen all week where migrants are streaming across. many of them are released here at the shelter and many walk across the street to both a convenient store as well as a bus stop to get to the bus stop
process. let s get into all of this and go straight to the front lines with gabe gutierrez who is following breaking news for us this hour. i know you have some new information on a migrant teen missing today from a shelter facility in brownsville, texas. what do we know more about that story? what can you tell us? hi, it actually happened yesterday. brownsville pd said they got a call yesterday around 4:30 yesterday afternoon that a young migrant boy, 15 years old, had run away from the shelter here. that s according to brownsville police. we got a statement from southwest key as a licensed care center we cannot restrain them, we are not a detention center. we talk to them and try to get them to stay. if they leave the property we call law enforcement. we also spoke with a source with direct knowledge of the incident.
