The Brownsville Police Department is searching for a 21-year-old man who is wanted for his involvement in an arson case.
Jose Rafael Gandarilla-Cruz is wanted for an arson offense that occurred at the Rey Press Apartments in Brownsville – located at 1351 E. Jefferson Street according to a news release from the Brownsville Police Department.
Gandarilla-Cruz was last seen driving a gray Pontiac Aztek. Those with information on his whereabouts are urged to contact the Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 956-546-8477.

The Brownsville Police Department is seeking a woman who was caught on camera swiping a tablet from a Metro PCS store.
The theft happened on Tuesday, May 25 and information – and video - of the theft was released Friday.
Those with information on the theft are urged to call the Brownsville Crime Stoppers at 956-546-8477.

Thursday, May 13, marks four years since the disappearance of Kimberly Avila.
Family members last saw Avila on May 13, 2017, at approximately 2:30 a.m. on the 1200 block of East Washington Street in Brownsville.
Avila was last seen wearing a black wig, a black short sleeve blouse, a black skirt, and high-heeled shoes.
According to a news release, in 2019, the city of Brownsville established the LGBTQ+ Task Force to address concerns about the increased discrimination and harassment impacting the LGBTQ community in Brownsville, including addressing the disappearance of Avila.
