Franklin Planning Commission looking into moratorium on future apartments Nashville Tennessean During a joint work session with the Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman and the city Planning Commission, one commissioner raised a question about whether the city could legally issue a moratorium on multifamily housing. The question was brought by Commissioner Marcia Allen and came amid a conversation about the number of multifamily and single-family residences currently in the city. As it stands, Franklin has about 8,000 multifamily units and more than 20,000 single-family homes. The average price of a Franklin home sold in January is $550,000, according to Redfin, a website that posts real estate listings.
