The sweltering heat this year has prompted preventative methods for high school football athletes who practice and play outdoors and are vulnerable to extreme heat.
JP Taravella High School’s Mason Green closed out his senior year of swimming by finishing third in the 100-yard butterfly at the FHSAA Class 4A swimming and diving championships at the Sailfish Splashpark Aquatic Athletics Center in Stuart.
With a stellar finish of placing five runners in the top 15 of the 3.1-mile race at Markham Park in Sunrise, the Cypress Bay Lightning won the boys’ title with 57 points, easily ahead of runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas (105).
