Rapper Shock G, who was famous for the hit single âThe Humpty Danceâ, died Thursday night, according to Digital Underground co-founder Chopmaster J. He was 57.
A report from TMZ said that Shock G, named Gregory Jacobs by birth, died at a hotel in Tampa.
âThirty-four years ago, almost to the day, we had a wild idea we can be a hip hop band and take on the world,â wrote Chopmaster J in an Instagram post. âThrough it all, the dream became a reality and the reality became a nightmare for some . Rest In Peace my Brotha Greg Jacobs.â

According to reports, Bay Area legend Shock G has passed away at the age of 57. The news began circulating social media after Chopmaster J made the unfortunate announcement. Shock G was found dead in a hotel room in Tampa and no cause of death was revealed, but authorities will conduct an autopsy.
Digital Underground first hit the scene in the late ’80s, with their psychedelic, P-Funk-inspired party jams. Led by Shock G and his outrageous alter ego Humpty Hump, turned Digital Underground into MTV superstars.
