Americans are growing more interested in green burial, which eschews embalming and non-biodegradable caskets in favor of natural decomposition. But in west Michigan, controversy over a proposed green cemetery pits neighbor-against-neighbor.
"It's a cemetery, but it's also very much a place for life," said Peter Quakenbush as their legal team say this new ordinance violates the state's constitution.
Peter and Annica Quackenbush planned to open a green burial cemetery but were stopped by an ordinance filed by Brooks Township that has banned all cemeteries.
